Administrative Ease

HM Insurance Group (HM) helps make the COBRA process as smooth as possible for all parties involved. We ensure ease of participation for COBRA clients with our customized systems and experienced staff members who work directly with COBRA continuants and report participant activity back to employers. At the employer’s request, HM also will handle open enrollment.

In an effort to make doing business with us easier, we:

  • Provide flexibility in receiving information:
    • Qualifying events can be received by employer interface, secure e-mail, fax or paper
    • Variety of EDI platforms can be accommodated
  • Offer the option of having continuants’ premiums sent directly to the carrier, employer or any combination of the two
  • Can electronically communicate participant information with many carriers
  • Administer HIPAA Certificate of Coverage obligations
  • Report continuants by location, division or carrier, depending on what the employer requires
  • Manage open enrollment for employer continuants
  • Report fees by cost center or location to provide the employer with information for cost allocations
  • Customize billing based on any severance program by:
    • Billing contribution rates for a certain period of time and then switching to billing full rates
    • Administering any type of "Company Paid" program the employer may have
    • Starting the billing of the subscriber after the "Company Paid" period is complete.
